Having the opportunity to be a part of the Bachelor of Education program at Queen's University is something I am beyond grateful for. With this education I have been able to develop my professional statement of beliefs these include...

I believe that students should be seen as capable and competent and that this needs to be reflected within the classroom.

I believe that assessment does not need to be linked to grades to be effective.

I believe in Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, everyone deserves access to all levels. This applies within and outside of the classroom.

I believe that supporting students through social-emotional learning is crucial to development and learning. This is discussed in the Ethical Standards for the Teaching Profession under care. That as a teacher, I will have “interest and insight for developing students’ potential.”

I believe in having a growth mindset within and outside of the classroom to foster growth and learning as a learner, a teacher, and an individual I believe that we are constantly learning and are co-learners with our students, every day is a good day to learn.

I believe that supporting children in advocating for themselves through aspects of the day.

I believe that it is important to integrate universal design for learning in all aspects of the day, not only within lessons in the classroom.

I believe that having a supportive classroom through every part of the day, including classroom management is crucial to fostering an environment with positive classroom management.
